In actual Danica news…Danica returns to her roots!

January 14, 2012

Sort of:

Danica Patrick knows that she’ll be under an even bigger spotlight when she makes her Sprint Cup debut Feb. 26 at the Daytona 500.

So how is she going to react? By going all honey badger, of course.

“And the honey badger, it was last year, I think, somebody showed me this video of the honey badger, and the commentator on it was very, very funny,” Patrick said between test sessions at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday. “Anyway, the honey badger, he doesn’t give a crap, he takes what he wants. And that’s how I’m going to be this year, like a honey badger.

You may have seen the video yourself. Pretty funny. Of course, the honey badger gets tons of good press because of that video and – not that it isn’t deserved, but the North American badger is just as badass, and it’s from here. The honey badger lives in Africa.

Also, of course, the badger is mascot to the great state of Wisconsin, because we think it’s adorable, what with all that snarling and killing and eating raw snake. Point being: Danica was born in Wisconsin. So, naturally, she feels some kinship. Which almost makes up for:

Almost.

Meanwhile, in Danica-less IndyCar News:

Go Daddy…has signed IndyCar’s rookie of the year, James Hinchcliffe, as its 2012 Izod IndyCar Series driver.

Hinchcliffe is set to drive the GoDaddy.com No. 27 Chevrolet for the Andretti Autosport team next season, replacing Danica Patrick.

Huh. I’m sure Hinchcliffe is a fine driver. I just expected…oh, I dunno…just compare:

They’re not going to put him in their commercials, are they?
