Danica didn’t crash!

March 3, 2012

Hey, it’s improvement:

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Before winning his first Nationwide Series race since 1998, Elliot Sadler gave Danica Patrick a bit of advice: “Just finish.”

After her crash-filled experience at Daytona, that’s what Patrick did Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway. Although she was never in position to contend with the top trio of Sadler, Brad Keselowski or Ricky Stenhouse Jr., she brought her Go Daddy Chevrolet home in one piece, finishing 21st in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200.

Of course, she never had a chance to contend for a better finish, because…well, because she hit the wall during her qualifying run. Which, y’know, put her waaay back in the starting lineup.

But she didn’t crash during the race. That’s what’s really important.

Of course you can’t blame her. Qualifying is hard, what with all those other damn drivers getting in the way.
