But could you fry it on a stick?

July 7, 2012

I’m gonna hafta try this:

One Philadelphia bakery dreamed up this ultimate fall dessert: pumpkin and apple pies baked in chocolate and vanilla cake, fused together and surrounded by buttercream icing.

It’s a pumpkin pie baked into a chocolate cake – which all by itself sounds awesome – and an apple pie baked into a vanilla cake, served as two layers of the same cake.

Day-um.

This oversize creation weighs in at a whopping 15 pounds and measures more than a foot tall. And at 1,800 calories a slice, it’s not for the faint of heart.

Okay, but when they say “slice…”

… One slice of this hybrid is enough to feed four and sells for $8…

So one serving would have 450 calories, which, for a restaurant-bought dessert, that’s not that bad. Plus, really, you could cut down on that icing a little.

One last excerpt, just because of the names:

If a whole cake is just too much for your family’s stomach, the Flying Monkey also makes a smaller version — the pumpplet.

“Flying Monkey.” That’s a great name for a restaurant. I wonder if they serve lion steaks? “And Your Little Dog, Stew?”

UPDATE - It’s the perfect dessert for the perfect burger.

Eating that confection would be like screwing a cork into your aorta. But, strangely, I think it might be worth it.
