Even George Lucas couldn’t screw up the dialog this time:
Aaarrrrrrrr… errrhhhaaaarrrrr…
Most Star Wars fans will say that it’s about bloody darn time that Han Solo’s (Harrison Ford) best friend, co-pilot and ever-faithful sidekick, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), is finally getting his very own movie. (Well … sorta.)
According to THR, Fanboys director Kyle Newman (the guy’s definitely NO stranger to Star Wars, so YAY!), along with Info Entertainment, is developing Chewie from a 2011 Black List script centered around the 7-foot-3-inch actor Peter Mayhew, who played the woolly, grumpy Wookiee in the Star Wars films.
Written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux as a spec script, Chewie is set against the backdrop of the making of 1977′s Star Wars. Newman—a massive Star Wars fan—secured Mayhew’s life rights in order to further develop the script. It’ll follow Mayhew as he tries to balance a career as a hospital worker by day while chasing the Hollywood dream by night by playing a fully suited alien who would become one of sci-fi’s most iconic on-screen sidekicks.
Wow, Peter Mayhew is 7’3? How tall was he in costume?
