So who’ll be tuning in for that new NBC sitcom with Ellen Barkin playing a conservative matriarch this Fall?

You heard me. Ellen Barkin, who now-infamously re-tweeted:

And just in case anyone thinks I’m blaming her too much for what somebody else tweeted, this isn’t her first time.

She really, really hates the GOP. And conservatives. And she’s not shy in telling us so. She hates us so much she’d wish a devastating hurricane on the people of Tampa. All of them. Not to mention, before Isaac could become such a powerful storm, Isaac would have to become even more powerful on the way to Tampa, so all those little Caribbean islands in the way, well, sorry.

Okay, so maybe I’m reading too much into this. Really, one should read less into what people like Barkin say. It’s not like they’re layered in subtle meaningfulness.

Barkin is, of course, starring in a new TV show this fall: “The New Normal,” in which she plays a harpy-ish conservative matriarch of an… let’s just call it an oddly arranged family. And, before somebody gets mad at me for calling them “odd,” talk to NBC. That’s the whole premise of the show.

So what should we expect from Barkin’s character, do you suppose? Any actual conservative behavior? Or a Lefty’s lampoonish idea of what a conservative is?
