The most egregious misuse of the word “racist” you’ll see today, and it’s not on MSNBC!

The story: restaurants in Vermont were levying a “Canadian tax” on any customers they suspected were from Canada. I’m gathering that Canadians have different customs related to tipping, and so they mostly don’t even down here in the U.S. So the waiters were automatically adding an 18% gratuity to the bills.

“…when the check came, it was higher than expected. When she inquired about the automatically included tip, her server explained that it was kind of a policy to include gratuity for anyone who appears to be from Quebec or Europe. We’re not sure what Anne Marie’s response was, but we hope she called the policy kind of racist.”

White people engaging in racism against other white people! Somebody tell Chris Matthews: it’ll make his day!
