You’d think Democrats weren’t really concerned about civil liberties after all.
Via Doug Ross, the ACLU is reporting skyrocketing use of warrantless wiretapping and other types of surveillance by the Obama administration’s DOJ.
That’d be AG Eric Holder, for those of you keeping score at home. The story:
Justice Department documents released today by the ACLU reveal that federal law enforcement agencies are increasingly monitoring Americans’ electronic communications, and doing so without warrants, sufficient oversight, or meaningful accountability.
During that same time period, the number of people whose telephones were the subject of pen register and trap and trace surveillance more than tripled. In fact, more people were subjected to pen register and trap and trace surveillance in the past two years than in the entire previous decade.
If only there were a Republican in the White House, the media would be covering this. If they could squeeze it in around the stories about Mideast violence and $4/gallon gas.
