Post-debate analysis: so the media’s all set up for the biggest political comeback story ever now, right?

Think about it: expectations for Romney will be sky high for the next debate, but rock bottom for Obama. Hell, after last night’s debate, Obama’ll be counted a winner just for smiling and pronouncing the moderator’s name correctly.

And then the media will pounce! Obama was just distracted in the first debate! It wasn’t fair! He’s the new comeback kid… an unstoppable freight train of magically romantic underdogness that the American public simply can’t resist!

Or am I being too pessimistic?
