It makes you think Jeff Bezos could have the Obamacare website up and running by… oh, say next Tuesday.
Here’s an example of how to run a website:
Amazon just wrapped up a successful holiday shopping season. It sold 36.8 million items on Cyber Monday alone, or 426 items per second.
426 items per second. Meanwhile, how many users can the Obamacare site handle at once? Have they got that up over 50,000?
Okay, so Amazon’s been around a while. They’ve had years to get their website to work as well as it works today. But then, that’s the point. Their website works.
So. Note to self: if you’re ever trying to build a G.I.Normous internet marketplace type of deal, just call Jeff Bezos. Betcha he charges a lot less than whatever it was – $600 million? – that we paid for the damn thing, too.
