The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in “rightwing extremist activity,” saying the economic recession, the election of America’s first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.

In their defense, hordes of conservatives publicly rallying to a cause is a lot less common than unkempt hemp-wearing college students and former/wannabe hippies doing the same. It’s like…you expect zebras to move in herds and eat grass, but if you saw tigers doing that, you’d think: what the hell?

DHS probably isn’t exactly sure what they’re seeing.
