Ten favorite movie quotes
Just for the hell of it.
1. Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?
2. Groovy.
3. Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya.
4. Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes.
5. Fill your hand, you son of a bitch!
6. To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear de lamentation of de women.
7. Are you crazy? Is that your problem?
8. I hope you brought enough for everybody.
9. Now. Spit.
10. Bad dates.
Couple weeks ago, I ran across this list of “incredibly memorable movie quotes” at Listverse.com. It got me thinking about my favorite movie quotes. The rules: only one per movie franchise, and it’s gotta be something you might (and do) quote in an everyday conversation.
Oh, okay, so a couple of those I don’t quote in everyday conversations. Go ahead, criticize me, and it’ll be your lamentations I’m listening to.
Can you name all the movies without looking them up? Shouldn’t be that hard.

1. “Who are those guys?”
2. “What we have here is a failure to communicate.”
3. “My hypocrisy know no bounds.”
4. “He’s a clean old man, isn’t he?”
5. “Oh, I’m not gonna hit him…I’m not gonna hit him…the hell I’m not!”
Good: Now. Spit.
Better: *Spit* Buzzard’s gotta eat, same as a worm.
Some I know, some I don’t, but #7 is from Big Trouble in Little China (a Paco family favorite!)
1. Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads.
2. Don’t drive angry!
3. He chose poorly.
4. Hitler. Earth. 1939.
5. Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.
6. Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!
7. I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
8. They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way!
9. I won’t be wronged, I won’t be insulted, and I won’t be laid a hand on. I don’t do these things to other people and I expect the same from them.
10. Wrong, Mr. Pepper. Because no matter where people go, sooner or later there’s the law. And sooner or later they find God’s already been there.
oops. 4 should be: “Earth. Hitler. 1938.”
Pfather – um…#2 is “Cool Hand Luke,” and #5 is “McClintock.” Both classics. I assume your other three are dialog boards from the silent movie era.
Steve: yeah, that one’s better.
Mike: Is #5 from “Casablanca?” Because if so you done broke the rules. Only one quote per movie or franchise.
#1 is from “Back to the Future;” #3 is from the third Indiana Jones movie; #8 is from “The Untouchables;” and #9 is from “True Grit.” Other than those, you’ve got me.
#10, I think, is from Chisum.
What fun! I’ve broken a rule, too — two pairs of quotes are from the same movie.
1. You call this a happy family? Why do we have to have all these kids?
2. Here’s your hat. What’s your hurry?
3. Don’t speak Mex in front of the infant.
4. Not interested. (pronounced inner-rested, with accent on the ‘in’)
5. People come and go so quickly here!
6. Paula. . . (hint: French accent a must when quoting this.)
7. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am.
8. That’s a piecrust promise. Easily made, easily broken.
9. And a lovely thing she is, too.
10. How many head of children do we have now, Lillie, would you say off hand?
‘Clean old man’ quote is from A Hard Day’s Night. :)
Sorry about breaking the rules. My new #5 is over at http://www.lettersinbottles.com
As for the movies the quotes come from, Lance is wrong on Number 9, it’s actually from The Shootist. Still John Wayne though. The others are:
#2- Groundhog Day
#4- Star Trek VI (quotation in question is during a state dinner with Klingons quoting Shakespeare. One mentions that they need “breathing room.” Kirk responds with that) (yes, I realize this makes me a giant dork)
#6- Dr. Strangelove
Paco’s right on #10
