Did they need somebody who’ll just do exactly the same thing that’s been done a thousand times before without even trying to disguise it?

Why the hell is James Cameron consulting on the oil leak?

Federal officials are hoping film director James Cameron can help them come up with ideas on how to stop the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The “Avatar” and “Titanic” director was among a group of scientists and other experts who met Tuesday with officials from the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies for a brainstorming session on stopping the massive oil leak.

Coming soon: “Spill,” written and directed by James Cameron. The oil executives are the bad guys. The government functionaries look like the good guys at first, but will turn out to be either corrupt or completely incompetent. The dashingly handsome young scientist and the gorgeous young Coast Guard officer, who can’t stand each other at first (possibly because of a prior relationship) will be thrust together as the only ones who can Save The World and will fall deeply in love after nearly dying to stop the oil leak.

What? You’ve heard that one before? And your point is…
